Week 1: Heart for the House
Membership Covenant
At this point in the class you should have a better understanding of who we are
as a church. Should you wish to become a member of the church, please read through
the covenant and at the bottom of the page is a link to our membership application.
We look forward to having you join the family.
By acting in love toward other members.
"So let us concentrate on the things which make
for harmony, and on the growth of our fellowship
together."
"Have a sincere love for other believers, love one
another earnestly with all your hearts."
By refusing to gossip.
"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your
mouths, but only what is helpful for building
others up according to their needs. . ."
By following the leaders.
"Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their
authority, because they keep watch over you as those
who must give an account."
By praying for its growth.
"To the church . . .we always thank God for all of you
and pray for you constantly."
By inviting the unchurched to attend.
"Go out into the country...and urge anyone you find to come in,
so that My House will be full."
By warmly welcoming members and guests alike.
"So warmly welcome each other into the church, just as Christ
has warmly welcomed you; then God will be glorified."
By discovering my gifts and talents.
"Serve one another with the particular gifts God has
given each of you..."
By being equipped by my pastors to serve.
"God gave . . .some to be pastors and teachers to
prepare all God's people for the work of the
Christian service, in order to build up the body of
Christ."
By developing a servant's heart.
"Each of you should look not only to your own
interests, but also to the interests of others .
Your attitude should be the same as that of Jesus
Christ . . .who took on the very nature of a servant . . ."
By attending church services and small groups faithfully.
"They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching
and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and
to prayer."
"Let us not give up the habit of meeting together...
but let us encourage one another."
By living a Godly life.
"But whatever happens, make sure that your everyday
life is worthy of the gospel of Christ."
By faithfully giving.
"On the first day of each week, you should each put
aside a portion of the money you have earned and
use it for the offering."
